Green silicon carbide contains more than 99% SiC and has good self-sharpening properties. It is mostly used for processing cemented carbide, titanium alloy and optical glass, and is also used for honing cylinder liners and fine grinding high-speed steel tools. Silicon carbide has many other uses besides being used as abrasives due to its stable chemical properties, high thermal conductivity, low thermal expansion coefficient and good wear resistance. For example, by using a special process to apply silicon carbide powder to the inner wall of the turbine impeller or cylinder body, it can improve its wear resistance and extend its service life by 1 to 2 times; the refractory material made from it is resistant to thermal shock, small in size, light in weight and high in strength, and has good energy-saving effects.
Low-grade silicon carbide (containing about 85% SiC) is a better deoxidizer. It can speed up steelmaking, facilitate control of chemical composition and improve the quality of steel. In addition, silicon carbide is also widely used in the production of silicon carbon rods for electric heating elements.
The abrasive properties of green silicon carbide are harder and more brittle than black silicon carbide, and it is sharper and has a sharp cutting micro-edge. It is mainly suitable for the manufacture of ceramic and resin grinding wheels, grinding of carbide tools and workpieces, cutting, grinding and polishing of piezoelectric crystals and quartz crystals, thread grinding and fine grinding of tools. It can also be used for grinding agate, watch jewel bearings, jewelry and jade, and cutting and grinding of heavy metals (such as germanium).

Used in manufacturing bonded abrasives, coated abrasives, grinding glass, quartz crystals, prism crystals, ceramics, stone, cast iron and some non-ferrous metals, carbide, titanium alloy, high-speed steel tool grinding wheels, etc.
Silicon carbide deoxidizers and foam ceramic filters used in steel mills, silicon carbide (SIC) foam ceramic filters, have excellent strength and resistance to high temperature impact and chemical corrosion. The operating temperature is 1500℃, and it is widely used in molten metal filtration, high-temperature flue gas treatment, catalyst carriers, solid heat exchangers and special fillers.
