How do you manufacture sandpaper?
Sandpaper production process
Sandpaper is a surface grinding tool, usually composed of adhesive paper and sand grains. It is mainly used for surface grinding and polishing of metal, wood, ceramics, plastics and other materials. The following will introduce the production process of sandpaper.
First is the preparation of raw materials.
The main raw materials for making sandpaper are adhesive paper and sand grains. Adhesive paper is made of high-strength cotton paper or artificial fiber, mainly as a supporting material for sandpaper. Sand grains are mainly artificial abrasives or natural abrasives, with different grinding work requirements. It is necessary to select appropriate sand grains according to different grinding needs.
Next is the preparation of the adhesive paper for sandpaper.
The adhesive paper is first processed by a glue impregnation machine so that the paper is fully penetrated with glue, and then the moisture in the adhesive paper is volatilized by a high-temperature dryer.
Next, the adhesive paper is subjected to a glue coating process by a glue coating machine to evenly coat the glue on the surface of the adhesive paper.
There are two methods of glue coating: roller coating and spray coating, which are suitable for different types of sandpaper. Spray coating is usually thinner and suitable for fine grinding or smooth grinding, while roller coating is thicker and suitable for coarse grinding or surface treatment.
Then comes the grit coating of sandpaper. The adhesive paper after glue coating needs to be subjected to a grit coating process on the sandpaper production line. The grit coating machine evenly sprinkles the grit on the wet adhesive paper, and then makes the grit firmly adhere to the adhesive paper by vibration, impact or slapping. This step is mainly to ensure the tight adhesion between the grit and the adhesive paper.
Finally, the sandpaper is shaped and cut.
Sandpaper needs to be shaped and cut by a grinder. Shaping is to feed the sandpaper that has just been coated with sand grains into the shaping machine to increase the overall strength of the sandpaper and ensure the uniform arrangement of the sand grains. After that, the sandpaper is cut by a cutting machine to cut the sandpaper into appropriate sizes. The cut sandpaper needs to be quality inspected to ensure that the product quality meets the requirements.
In summary, the production process of sandpaper includes multiple steps such as raw material preparation, dipping and coating of adhesive paper, coating of sand grains, shaping and cutting. These processes need to be completed on the sandpaper production line, and the process parameters must be strictly controlled to ensure the quality and performance of the sandpaper.
