On September 24th, 2024, the National Abrasives and Grinding Tools Industry Information Exchange Conference was successfully held in Dalian. More than 300 industry experts, scholars, and enterprise representatives from all over the country attended the conference. The conference was chaired by Chen Peng, Secretary General of the Abrasives and Grinding Tools Branch of the China Machine Tool Industry Association.
At the beginning of the meeting, Mr. Guo Changcheng, Executive Vice Chairman of the China Machine Tool and Tool Industry Association, delivered a speech on stage. He expressed that through participating in this exchange meeting, he deeply felt the large number of participating enterprises, the enthusiastic communication among representatives, and the orderly organization of work. He praised the cohesion and influence of the branch in the industry. Subsequently, he reviewed the development process of the machine tool industry after the reform and opening up, and encouraged industry enterprises to find their market positioning in the new era and set sail accordingly. He sincerely hoped that all the representatives participating in this conference could return with a full load and wished the conference a complete success.
Subsequently, Mr. Wang Peiming, Vice President of Saint Gobain Ceramic Materials Asia, gave a report on how the abrasive and grinding tool industry should respond to the transformation of new quality productivity and the dual carbon macroeconomic development model. He introduced that in the context of global carbon neutrality, Saint Gobain actively responds by making a net zero carbon commitment and integrating this concept into the research and innovation of Saint Gobain abrasive solutions. Through "initiating and practicing to reduce the environmental footprint in the production process", "developing sustainable high-performance abrasive products", "driving the creation of sustainable development value concept", "cultivating partners who recognize the concept of sustainable development and can work together to reduce emissions", and other four aspects, Saint Gobain helps traditional industries transform and upgrade. He stated that Saint Gobain Group is continuously optimizing its industrial layout and developing new abrasives that better meet the needs of the Chinese market, practicing the concept of developing new quality productivity according to local conditions. In the future, it will also work together with domestic colleagues to achieve the vision of high-quality development of Chinese manufacturing.
At the end of the conference, Mr. Chen Peng, Secretary General of the Abrasives and Grinding Tools Branch, gave a comprehensive analysis of the economic operation of the abrasives and grinding tools industry from January to June 2024. He analyzed the macroeconomic situation, main product output and prices, key enterprise operating data, and import and export trade from four aspects in 2024. He pointed out that although the industry faced some risks and challenges in the first half of this year, it still maintained a stable development trend and achieved certain results in the driving force of "specialization, refinement, novelty" and product structure upgrading. He believes that the biggest problem currently facing the industry is the vicious competition caused by overcapacity, and calls on everyone to strengthen industry self-discipline, get rid of low-priced homogeneous competition through differentiated development strategies, and consciously safeguard the overall interests of the industry. At the same time, he also encouraged industry colleagues to have firm confidence, develop new quality productivity according to local conditions, do a good job in upstream and downstream cooperative research and development, accelerate the expansion of domestic market demand with high-quality products, and jointly contribute to the high-quality development of the industry.
At the conference venue, the attending representatives were enthusiastic and actively recorded the content of the meeting. They stated that this meeting provided directional suggestions for the future development of the abrasive and grinding tool industry enterprises, and unanimously agreed that efforts should be made to improve quality and efficiency as soon as possible, abandon low price and homogeneous competition, and jointly promote the abrasive and grinding tool industry to move towards a new future and step onto a new level.
